Why Zap, Profile and Match Your Magnets?

Ceramic pancake magnets can vary noticeably in strength and magnetic characteristics, even among magnets of the same type. Zapping brings each magnet to its available magnetic potential, but maximum strength alone does not tell the whole story.

WER measures each magnet at its leading, mid and trailing inner working surface positions to develop a magnetic field profile. These measurements help determine the preferred operating orientation of each magnet and allow magnets to be paired for both closely matched center strength and complementary leading/trailing field characteristics.

Completed pairs are then measured for magnetic downforce/attraction as an additional performance reference.

The goal isn't simply stronger magnets — it's knowing what you have, how each magnet performs across its working surface, and getting the best matched pairs from your magnet inventory.

About This Service

Send your ceramic pancake magnets to Ward Enterprises Racing for professional zapping, multi-point field profiling, precision matching, orientation optimization, matched-pair downforce testing, ranking, and documented results.

Every magnet is individually identified and measured in both possible operating orientations. WER then selects the preferred orientation and matches the magnets using their center attraction together with their leading and trailing field characteristics.

Your magnets are returned identified, oriented, paired, ranked and cross-referenced to a detailed WER results report.

What's Included

  • Professional magnet zapping — ceramic pancake magnets only
  • Permanent individual magnet identification for traceability
  • Leading, mid and trailing magnetic attraction measurements
  • Measurement in both possible magnet orientations
  • WER preferred operating orientation determined from the measured field profile
  • Orientation reference mark applied to each magnet
  • Precision pairing using center attraction and leading/trailing field characteristics
  • Standardized WER matched-pair downforce/attraction measurement after final orientation and pairing
  • Ranking of completed pairs using their measured magnetic characteristics
  • Documented WER field-profile and matching results
  • Completed pairs individually organized and cross-referenced to the results report

How WER Field Profiling Works

When a magnet has a painted or colored face, WER uses that face as the initial reference UP orientation.

Leading, mid and trailing readings are taken in that orientation. The magnet is then flipped and the measurements are repeated.

WER evaluates the complete field profile to determine the preferred operating orientation. A small orientation reference mark identifies the preferred UP face when the magnets are returned.

Matching is based primarily on obtaining closely matched center attraction values while also considering the leading and trailing characteristics of each magnet.

Final pair downforce/attraction is measured only after orientation and matching have been established.

Pricing — One Group of Like Magnets Per Quantity

Each quantity tier applies to one group of like magnets. Different magnet types cannot be combined to reach a larger pricing tier.

Example: 10 pairs of Killer Bees and 10 pairs of Johnny Lightning Blue/White magnets are two separate 10-pair matching groups — not one 20-pair group. Each magnet family must be ordered as a separate matching group.

  • 5 pairs — $35.00
  • 10 pairs — $60.00
  • 20 pairs — $110.00
  • 30 pairs — $150.00
  • 40 pairs — $190.00
  • 50 pairs — $220.00
  • 60 pairs — $240.00

Quantities above 60 pairs: Available at $4.00 per pair. Please contact Ward Enterprises Racing before ordering to arrange pricing and logistics.

Race-Priority Matching — 50 & 60 Pair Groups Only

For racers submitting a large magnet inventory, WER offers optional Race-Priority Matching for 50- and 60-pair groups.

With Race-Priority Matching, WER first identifies and builds the 5 top-priority elite pairs from the submitted group using center-match accuracy together with the measured leading/trailing field profiles.

The remaining magnets are then optimized into the best practical matched pairs available from the balance of the group.

The five Race-Priority pairs are identified separately as the WER Elite 5 and receive a dedicated summary on the customer results report.

This approach is intended for advanced racers who want a small number of top-priority, measurement-selected race pairs from a large magnet inventory while still receiving optimized matching for the remainder of the group.

Race-Priority Matching — add $30

Available only with:

  • 50 pairs — $250 total
  • 60 pairs — $270 total

Accepted Magnet Types

This service currently accepts ceramic pancake magnets only. Polymer, neo and other rare-earth magnets are not included in this service at this time.

Compatible magnet families include, but are not limited to: Killer Bees, JL (Johnny Lightning) Blue/White, Dash Blue/White, Aurora T-Jet (all types), Tuff Ones, Super II, AFX, Magna-Traction, Auto World T-Jet & X-Traction, and similar ceramic pancake magnet types.

Measurement & Performance Note

WER measurements are standardized comparative measurements used to evaluate, orient, match and rank the magnets submitted within each group. Actual on-track performance can also be affected by the armature, chassis, gearing, magnet-to-rail clearance, track construction and overall car setup.

Magnet Identification & Pairing

Every magnet receives an individual WER identification code that remains with that magnet for future traceability.

Original magnet pairs may be separated during precision matching because magnets are re-paired according to their measured field characteristics. If specific pairs must remain together, clearly identify them in writing with your shipment. Keeping original pairs together may reduce matching precision.

Completed pairs are returned individually organized and identified by pair number. The WER results report cross-references every pair number to the permanent IDs of the two magnets it contains.

⚠️ IMPORTANT — Before Shipping Your Magnets

After checkout, you will receive instructions for mailing your magnets to WER. Do not ship your magnets until you have completed your order. Separate and clearly identify each magnet family being submitted. Your Shopify order number is your job number — include it with your shipment.

How to Submit Your Magnets

  1. Complete your Shopify order first. Your order number is your job number — do not ship magnets before ordering.
  2. Remove all magnets from chassis before shipping.
  3. Magnets must be reasonably clean.
  4. Separate and clearly identify each magnet family/type (for example: Killer Bees, JL Blue/White, AFX).
  5. Include your name and Shopify order number inside the package.
  6. Ship to:
